A rectangular artificial pond with fountains in a park below street level.
The pond is surrounded by a thin stretch of lawn (ca 2m wide) accessible by gates not far from its four corners. Separated from the lawn by manicured bushes are archways covered in floral climbig plants and wild roses.
On the north side of the pond is a cafe with pond-side shaded seating as well as an indoors area.
South of the pond is a rose garden and a path with further floral archways leading to a fountain featuring the gender-fluid Asian deity Guanjin. Beyond the fountain the path goes under a bridge and on all the way to Orannienplatz.
In the pomd are various floating islands used for nesting by various waterfowl, including various ducks, swans, moor hens and coots. The pomd is also visited by herons and cormorans, attracted by the multitude of fish in the murky water. Terrapins also live in the pond and can be seen sunbathing on the islands.
It can get sunny or shady on either side of the pond (east and west), depending on the hour. At noon both sides are sunny if it isn't cloudy.
The cafe is in the sun all day, but it has larde shades at the tables.
The sunny side of the lawn (or the shady side on ver hot days) can get busy, but normally people endeavor to sit at least 2 meters away from each other.
The cafe can get very busy when the weather is right, especially on weekends.
The cafe it can get loud with conversation when full, even outdoors.
Around the pond people sometime play music.
Other than that, there are sparrows chirping, blackbirds singing and coots and swans calling. In winter the screams of seagulls dominate the soundscape.
When the floral archways and/or the rose gardens are in bloom, their smell can be quite notable when in their vicinity.
Accessible by stairs or ramp from the north side, and by path from the south. There are also stairs on the west side.
It is not allowed to ride your bike around the pond, but there are bike parkings on either side of the cafe.

If you want to sit on the grass, it's best to bring a waterproof picnic blanket or similar, as it tends to be wet.
It is forbidden to feed the waterfowl, but you can watch others who insist of feeding them do so instead. If you insist on feeding them too, please avoid bread and crisps, and bring lettuce instead.
In the cafe: sit at an available table and staff will approach you for your order. The menus are attached to the table.
If you order a rice dish at the cafe and when done push it back with some rice still in it, asurprising numbr of sparrows will come to eat the rice from your bowl.
In the cafe there are multi-cell male and female toilets, as well as all-gender wheelchair accessible toilets. You can enter them from the eastern door to the cafe.
